- Upgrade in notebook HP / Compaq DV6210BR - Processor
Well staff, I am inaugurating a small number of notebooks on upgrade. Actually I report my experience with this issue. I will comment on three types of upgrade to notebook: memory, hard drive and processor
I am a happy owner of a HP / Compaq DV6210BR [1] was a launch of low cost assembled in Brazil. Despite the scarce resources of USB (2 ports), memory (256 MB), HD (60 GB) and processor (Sempron 3500 to 1.6 Ghz) was very attractive because a laptop than the price (reached R $ 1,199, 99, I paid U.S. $ 1,699.99) was an HP and NVIDIA video card with plenty of opportunities to upgrade to one of two core Turion. I checked and evaluated all these points before buying, that is worth the price and the technology of the motherboard chipset and that might give a survival of this model.
Best of all is that HP almost encourages the upgrade, because not seal any of the covers of access to memory modules and hard drive (as below pictures). To upgrade the planned increase of memory for a gig (1 GB). But the important detail is that it should be with two modules of 512 MB to enable the Dual Channel [2]. Could acquire free market two modules DDR2-667 (the most modern in the season) to 512 MB SODIMM for $ 50.00 each, a pechincha.Depois still managed to negotiate the module that left 256 MB for $ 50.
The procedure to replace the memories is very simple, just release the three screws back cover of the notebook (is indicated by a figure that is similar to a memory module). The module is easily released by the simultaneous opening of two hooks that pressure laterally each module. Simply press them out while the module is released and is in a position of approximately 45. To put the new module just fit him with an inclination of approximate 45 and then push him down, making bed, literally. The light pressure is applied with the hooks that are open and do a sound-click on the module.
To better monitor the process as see some photos below (click to enlarge):

I found an article where a citizen is to upgrade to a Turion X2 processor, but a huge trabalheira ... rs!
Maicon,
I also swapped the hard drive and processor to a Turion X2 and I count these experiences in coming posts.
As you update the bios I do not remember to have done, but I think yes, I usually do that. The current version of my bios is F.30 (04/02/07) which version of her, "I vaguely remember that the original was F.29.
In the Web site they point to the hp bios F.3D, just did an update that improved the support acpi in linux!
